At CONNECT GLOBAL LOGISTICS LLC, we are committed to keeping our drivers, partners, and customers informed. In April 2025, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) introduced major updates aimed at improving safety, compliance, and fraud prevention across the commercial driving industry.
Here’s a breakdown of the key FMCSA April 2025 updates every driver and carrier needs to know.
On April 10, 2025, FMCSA voided more than 15,000 unexpired Medical Examiner’s Certificates (MECs) issued by two non-compliant Houston-area doctors.
This action impacts 15,225 commercial motor vehicle drivers across the United States.
What drivers need to do:
Drivers who received a medical certificate from the affected doctors must obtain a new, valid certificate immediately.
Temporary operation is allowed, but failure to replace the invalid certificate may result in compliance violations.
Stay proactive — verify your medical certificate status to avoid disruptions.
For full details, visit the FMCSA website.
On April 17, 2025, FMCSA issued an Extension of Emergency Declaration No. 2025-003 in response to outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI).
What this means:
Regulatory relief is granted for motor carriers and drivers engaged in direct emergency assistance related to HPAI outbreaks.
The emergency declaration remains in effect until May 2, 2025.
If your routes are impacted by this emergency, CONNECT GLOBAL LOGISTICS LLC will provide updated dispatch instructions.
FMCSA has removed several Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) from its list of registered devices due to non-compliance with required technical standards.
Action required:
Motor carriers must stop using any revoked ELD immediately.
Replace non-compliant ELDs with FMCSA-approved devices to avoid violations and penalties.
CONNECT GLOBAL LOGISTICS LLC is currently auditing all ELD systems to ensure full compliance.
Check the list of revoked devices at eld.fmcsa.dot.gov.
Beginning in April 2025, FMCSA has launched a new identity verification process for the Unified Registration System (URS).
Why this matters:
Enhances security measures against fraud.
Protects sensitive company and driver information.
Verifies the legitimacy of all applicants accessing or updating URS information.
CONNECT GLOBAL LOGISTICS LLC supports these efforts and is aligning its systems with FMCSA’s new security standards.
The FMCSA’s April 2025 updates are designed to enhance safety, improve operational transparency, and protect drivers and carriers across the U.S. At CONNECT GLOBAL LOGISTICS LLC, we are fully committed to helping our drivers stay compliant, protected, and successful.
